Issue Fatigue noted in American elections

Michael Caltabiano was Councillor for the Chandler area, then State Member for Chatsworth, but at the time, my recollection is, that the Liberal Party was in such a shambles that he had to devote much of his time to sorting out the squabbles and spending precious time managing the various factions. In a coincidence, another Caltabiano is standing for the seat of Chatsworth against the sitting member, media star and sports presenter Chris Bombalas.
Instead of drafting Heather Foord to take on her former colleague, Ellen went with Andrea Caltabiano. She has promised to leave all the factional wheeling and dealing that is an essential part of modern politics to Santo Santoro and Michael Caltabiano.
Concerned we are starting to get bombarded with state election signage and bill boards I was interested to read this quote about voter fatigue.
I suspect we have a near terminal variety of the condition in Queensland.

An analysis of the American election results as it relates to moral issues... Pollster Barna noted that in 2008, traditional issues did not energize the right wing of American politics.

"There was substantial issue fatigue related to the moral issues that usually rev up the troops on the right. Although the candidates had very distinct and dissimilar views on moral issues such as abortion and gay marriage, those differences were not deal breakers for most voters. Voters are tired of fighting battles that seem interminable. And in a year when there were so many other significant crises and conflicts to consider, people’s focus shifted away from the usual throat-wringing issues."
