Judge Sacco was determined to help violators brought before his Colorado court accused of playing stereos too loudly or disturbing neighbours with band rehearsals.
Fining offenders was not a deterrent, so a dose of their own medicine was to listen to his play list at high volume for one hour.
"This is a way of teaching manners to people," he told Reuters Television.
His methods has cut the number of repeat offenders coming to court.
