Use technology for creek crossings

In 2007 the Council announced its use of composite fibre technology to replace a timber bridge, rather than concrete and steel. The structure of a bridge is pre-cast in a factory and is easier to transport and install.

Pedestrian and cycle bridges could be constructed to give more options to park users. My interest is having extra crossings of Bulimba Creek making it viable to keep more cars off crowded roads.
Scrub Road will be extended by the end of 2009 bringing hundreds more vehicles on to Wecker, Newnham, Ham Roads. Thousands of children attend local schools, recreation and child care facilities.
Keeping hundreds of children off Wecker Road with the installation of safe, visible crossings would also benefit the flow of traffic.
Some children currently avoid Wecker Road by crossing the creek, over stones which is fun but they have to cross the mud under the bridge, frequently painted with disgusting graffiti.
A safe 600 metre walk to school crossing over a creek could make a difference for children who have some time to change their channel if they have had issues at home or school.
AGL had considerable impact on Bulimba Creek to lay their pipeline, so it would be good for them to contribute with a bridge joining Eastwood Drive and the nearby Edwards Park.
