Wakka Wakka Cherbourg - Heroes -

I had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful people in the Aboriginal community of Cherbourg who I will always remember and appreciate. Two wonderful characters, Pop Mitta - Jeff Dynevor, and Eddie Barney. Both men represented Australia at the Empire Games in Perth as part of the Boxing team. Jeff Dynevor was the first Aboriginal man to win a gold medal.
Sadly Jeff passed away in 2008. He was an inspiration and a hero.
Jeff's family and Eddie want his memory honoured with photos I had taken.
During the Commonwealth Games baton relay Jeff was honoured and before the baton left Cherbourg he held it for a few minutes. What a special moment! With Jeff's family and friends around him honouring an amazing hero - the overwhelming feeling is still very vivid.
Eddie's Dad was Eddie Gilbert, famous fast bowler from Cherbourg.
