A recycling project at the City Botanic Gardens will provide water for the gardens.
I hope it can lift the bar on the use of sustainable practices in City Council facilities.
I have fond childhood memories of the City Botanic Gardens, a popular and inspiring place to visit during school holidays.
The site was established in 1828 to provide food for the early penal colony and the Botanic Gardens opened in 1855.
Plants from around the world were put on trial to determine their suitability in a subtropical climates. Mangoes, pineapples, pawpaws, custard apples, sugar cane, tobacco, ginger, coffee, various nuts and grape vines were introduced to Queensland as a result.
