I was excited when I read the City Council was offering "seed" money. We had been dispersing stacks of Lomandra seed in rehabilitation areas. (Collect and throw native seed which would be wasted, calling out "Fly, Be Free" hoping Lomandra will overtake pests! I would put my hand up for cash to disperse more Australian native seeds!!)
"Seed money" is available after a scheme to inspire enterprising projects, Signaturebrisbane was launched - a flash program to promote unique characteristics of Brisbane.
Grants of $7,500 will raise awareness of an environmental or artistic mission and draw attention to an environmentally healthy city.
Council decided on a foreigner as a logo, celebrating the awesome jacarandas that really do look spectacular in Brisbane during October.

A guest at the launch was concerned Jacaranda Petal Soup would be on the menu. All meals at the council cafeteria were required to feature produce available from the Botanic Gardens bush tucker garden. Jacaranda products were excluded as it is a foreign weed. Guests were invited to join the Circle of Friends and take the honour of a : Visionary, Champion, Supporter, or, a "donor" when giving a $1000 tax deduction.
A sneak peak at some menu items ...
Delicious wombat berries were popular on the menu.Supplies of Blue Flax Dianella were exhausted. The bright beautiful blue berries were popular despite leaving the guests with blue tongues and lips.
