Spell Boring - W-A-L-L-E. Pixar misses target

Wall-E left me disappointed - I give it 3 out of 10

Falling asleep, being prodded awake by the kids a couple of times may be part of not getting it.

I assumed it would inspire positive action to reduce our footprint on the environment, and, as kids reflect, it may have that outcome.
My doubts were reinforced when I saw an awful mess the theatre had been left in by patrons who had invested heavily in popcorn, lollies and drinks. If some respect for those who had to clean up the mess was not hitting us at the end of an "environmental message" I doubt any long lasting impact from the series as sequels are released.
I had high hopes I would find it inspirational like my favourite Dr Seuss book and film, "The Lorax, I speak for the trees."
Wall-E is a cute character but the story should have been told in a few minutes. The talent and money poured in should have had a better outcome, if that was their goal rather than just introducing more merchandising junk into the environment and making squillions.
We'll see a whole range of overpackaged, wasteful food products being forced on consumer fatigued parents.
I have had pleasure in the last week seeing kids build cubby houses using materials they find in the bush, marvelling at the frilly lizards sunning themselves, hearing the noise of whip birds, seeing kookaburras land on a branch to watch the bush care group as if they were saying thanks ...
If I had to give it another go on dvd it will be at faster speed with sub-titles to get it over with in a tenth of the time it takes at the theatre.
I'm frustrated when I see Pixar's incredible skill and unlimited resources, even an okay story idea, but for me, it really missed the mark.
If it mobilised kids to care for the environment and be part of the solution I may not have felt so ripped off about the time I wasted.
I purposely read no reviews before seeing the film so my hopes were not built up.
I have enjoyed animated films, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, Toy Stories but Wall.E left me disillusioned. I give it 3 out of 10 and T for try again.
