An occasional hoon comes past and 40 days later the vehicle owner might hear from Police.
Hiding the Police car after motorists have passed reinforces they are not on about road safety. It should be clearly visible to reward motorists staying under the speed limit that doing the right thing was worthwhile.
If revenue was not the priority, there would be legible signs thanking motorists for driving below the speed limit.
Speed camera deployments are favoured by Police because they keep the revenue. Revenue from boring fines like mobile phone usage, seat belts gets swallowed up by Treasury.
Consistenly high revenue from favoured sites indicates there is a problem. There may need to be a physical police presence, clear signage or a review of the speed limit so traffic can move at a sensible speed, legally.
