Several truckloads of turf were removed from Lang Park so Andre Reiu could perform his amazing outdoor concerts in Brisbane. The turf was ripped up and provided to a Sunshine Coast turf farm. Local schools, parks and footpaths missed out on the opportunity of using grass from Lang Park.
The effort made on behalf of the State Government to shred the turf and transport it back to the North Coast would be as significant as having a turf cutter remove it for local degraded parks and ovals. The publicity value for a school having some Lang Park turf would be significant. Anna could have worn a hard hat as a machine removed the turf.
It is a symptom of government arrogance that any waste does not ring a warning bell to at least consider how a resource could be re-used.
Photo (insert here) ... Lang Park's boss and his executives were out on the field at half time during the Roar match replanting the tufts of turf torn out by players using the field just days after the surface was installed.
