Instead of spending $35 million adding chemicals to the water supply, impose an extra tax on the providers of products proven to be dental destroyers. This could subsidise fluoridated chewing gum for every child and hundreds more dental assistants in schools helping kids who are not keeping their teeth clean. The largest provider of lollies in the world also supplies magnolia tree based bacteria fighting chewing gum. Maybe a win-win could be created to improve dental health.
And while they are at it, doing something useful for the environment and establish a sensible container deposit scheme.
