Tree Planting Deja Vu

ABC Radio gave excellent air time to Dr Chris Perry. I began looking for photos I had recalling hospital days that were organised to help tackle health challenges putting a roadblock in the way of children learning. Along the way, I recalled one of the most awesome days I have had as a teacher. We too 20 children to work with a Greening Australia program to plant trees alongside Kingaroy's water supply, at Gordonbrook Dam, which at the time was very depleted. A few years later, living in the city and again have an amazing opportunity to work with Greening Australia. 7 schools will have the opportunity to rehabilitate areas of their school grounds during 2009. The social and emotional skilling that happens through planting is fascinating to observe.
I always believed something dramatic could be done to improve the disgusting condition of Barambah Creek. One of the factors which may contribute to such poor health is the consequence of swimming in filthy water. One crazy idea was a series of windmills, pumping the water to the top of hills, letting it filter back down to the creek through rocks and forests.
