Communication control or a footpath at Wecker Road Mansfield?

Workplace health and safety approved road closure and safe footpath at Wecker Road Mansfield. Is it the best use of ratepayers money investing in Public Relations/Crisis Control/ specialists?

Each time Brisbane's Ellenpea Council wants help to control information it costs ratepayers thousands of dollars. A significant amount must be in the budget for use of PR Consultants and Control specialists which would be better spent getting footpaths repaired and road re-opened.

The community would be better informed if elected Councillors used their skills to organise a meeting or put information on their web page.

The Phillips Group “Communications Specialists” has been managing public opinion about construction of a pool on the grounds of a school at Mt Gravatt East but they did not realise the footpath and a lane was closed on Wecker Road. They will be helping the Council "sell" the opening of the pool and traffic access options.

Thousands of drivers have been impacted by the closure of a lane on Wecker Road to build a stone wall at the site. Council says they monitored traffic and there was no problem. Tell that to the people who have endured months of wasted time.

Construction was supposed to take two weeks but the lane now will stay closed from July to December. An dodgy footpath is putting locals at risk and Council says it is a workplace health and safety obligation!! The investment should be in returning the footpath and traffic lane to the people as soon as possible, not in a PR firm.
My view ... crisis and media control agencies love concocting photo ops of hardhats and big machines. Photos adjacent to problems they are working to solve would be of more interest.
