Without a commitment to improve traffic flow and rehabilitation of the local area, footpaths, and traffic islands do we really need another 100 shops at Carindale?
Without a significant improvement in local traffic conditions it will end up like Garden City.
Busy surrounding roads should have longer left turn lanes and sensible right turning pockets to disperse traffic and reduce time wasted in congestion.

I have noted your comments and while I can understand your concern regarding the redevelopment at Carindale Shopping Centre, I believe that there will be many benefits to the project. The redevelopment will be designed to link in with the planned eastern busway, including a safe pedestrian overpass at Millennium Boulevard.
The project will also make better use of the dead zone currently known as the town square. Westfield, rather than Council, will pay for the new library and the provision of new toilet facilities will be included as part of the redevelopment.

I have attached a link to the online Development Application for your information and further consideration. After following this link and searching under 1151 Creek Road, Carindale, you will find a number of development applications associated with the project.

It is important to note that it is not Council’s role to prevent the redevelopment of Carindale Shopping Centre. This is a decision for the owner of this private facility. Council’s responsibility is to ensure that any proposal complies with the City Plan and provided it does comply, Council cannot legally stop an expansion from occurring. Council’s town planners are satisfied that the proposal complies with the requirements and guidelines of the City Plan and as such, the proposal was approved.
