Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Logan 

Police have charged a man in relation to multiple dangerous driving incidents that spanned across Logan, Ipswich and Brisbane areas overnight.
It will be alleged around 8pm a traffic unit detected a vehicle traveling at high speeds on Kingston Road, Logan.
The vehicle was observed by the police helicopter traveling through the Brisbane and Ipswich areas before returning to Logan.
A tyre deflation device was deployed at Eagleby causing the vehicle to stop nearby.
It will be further alleged as police approached the vehicle, it accelerated away, driving through a red traffic light and continued along Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road.
The car allegedly traveled onto the wrong side of the roundabout on Mount Warren Boulevard before clipping the centre median strip, hitting a tree.
The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, was arrested by police at the scene.
No one was injured as a result of the single vehicle crash.
A 30-year-old Logan man has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, failing to stop, driving without a licence and fail to provide specimen for analysis.
He is due to appear before the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.

Predictions
  • If the driver is found guilty, the Magistrate will impose restitution for the significant costs involved in this selfish behaviour including involvement of the Police helicopter and damage to public infrastructure.
  • Efforts of Police to protect the public will be recognised.
  • Neighbours who may have been complaining about the behaviour of the driver will receive appreciation for their assistance in putting him on the Police radar.
  • He will lose his licence for a long time.
  • His family will help cover the cost of the damage he has done and will apologise to the Police whose lives were put at risk.

Fatal traffic crash, Greta Creek

A woman and child died after the car they were travelling in crashed into a creek north of Proserpine this morning. Initial information suggests around 7.20am, the car left the Bruce Highway and has gone into a creek, near Greta Creek. A woman died at the scene and a male child died in hospital. Two other occupants were transported to the Proserpine Base Hospital.The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Kirwan 

Police are investigating a dangerous driving incident that occurred at Kirwan last night.
Shortly before 11pm, an officer from the Townsville Dog Squad and a police dog were running a track in relation to another matter.
As they approached an intersection, a stolen vehicle exited and was travelling at high speed along Hudson Street when it has moved on to the incorrect side of the road and swerved towards the officer and police dog.The Senior Constable was forced to take evasive action to avoid being stuck by the vehicle, and managed to grab the police dog and pull him to safety. They were not injured as a result of the incident.
The vehicle, a beige 2006 Toyota Rav 4 bearing Queensland registration 181JVB, was last seen turning left on to Nonda Street. Subsequent investigations have revealed that the vehicle was stolen from a Heatley address on Friday evening. Investigations are continuing.

Traffic crash, Slacks Creek 

Police have charged a 33-year-old Eagleby man after he was involved in a single vehicle traffic crash on Kingston Road at Slacks Creek late last night. Initial information suggests  an unmarked police car was behind a motorcycle waiting to turn right from Kingston Road into Akora Street. Police observed the vehicle to be displaying false registration plates and activated their lights and siren to intercept the motorcycle. The rider accelerated into the intersection before falling from his bike. Police assisted the man up before allegedly locating a quantity of drugs and weapons, including a knife and knuckleduster. The man has been issued a Notice to Appear for drug, weapons and traffic related offences. The 33-year-old man was not injured during the incident.
