R rated computer games were not available for sale. Thanks to the support of the LNP Government in Queensland, the violent material, which previously could not be sold, will now be easily available.
According to the LNP it is welcome news for parents that R rated violent computer games, which could not be sold, will be available.
An MA rating was judged by those who carefully considered the issues previously, to be the strongest material that was suitable. So, because children were gaining access to that material, they will make even more graphic violence available for sale to those that can present some ID.
Making violent material available for sale will - according to the LNP - prevent underage gamers from being exposed to inappropriate material.
The industry is grateful to the Attorney General for his assistance.

New classification for computer games
Computer gamers will be required to provide proof of age when purchasing newly-classified R18+ products after legislation was passed in Parliament today.
Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie said the introduction of the R18+ classification in Queensland would prevent underage gamers from being exposed to inappropriate material.
“The introduction of this classification should be welcome news for parents, who will now have more control over the games their children are playing,” Mr Bleijie said.“I encourage parents to be guided by these classifications, as I’m sure many are unaware of the levels of violence and adult material contained in some computer games.
“This system has worked with films for a long time and it makes sense for computer games to be treated in the same way.
“At the Standing Council of Attorney’s General last year, it was decided to adopt a national approach for computer game classification.
“By coming into line with the rest of the country, we can prevent the games from being bought interstate and sold illegally in Queensland.”
The legislation will be enforced upon assent from the Governor.
