Mr jcdecaux clutter pays for city cycle program

Tried but failed, again, appealing to Council to stop cluttering up busy footpaths with distracting signs. The Lord Mayor and a flash engineer approve of them so it is the end of the road trying to ask for a change.
Bad examples are in the Valley – Gibbs St, and St Pauls Tce.
Roma Street has a shocker blocking half the footpath.
There is plenty more working hard to revenue raise for Mr JC Decaux.
No complaints have been received about obstructing pedestrians or distracting motorists, so they stay.
Mr JC Decaux has open slather to footpaths to pay for push bikes he is allowed to park on valuable road space.
Not only is it a regrettable decision to have council approved obstructions on busy footpaths they represent a distractor for motorists.
Three colourful signs, change every 20 seconds, working hard to catch the attention of motorists alongside some of the busiest roads in Brisbane.
Engineering approved nonsense!
Three revolving colourful advertisements placed behind a traffic light on Gibbs St is one of the worst examples.
Mr JC Decaux has a free run to do as he will on Brisbane footpaths.
Distracting motorists unfamiliar with in your face council revenue raising is a disappointing price to pay for the ambitious bike scheme.
I am sure the bikes are used sometimes.
I am still to find any crowded footpath locations where private advertisers can disrupt pedestrian thoroughfare and distract traffic.
City Council and Translink footpath blockers disguised as shelter sheds are poorly placed. There are some classics in poor placement in the middle of footpaths.
It should not matter how well meaning the revenue raising is intended.
The Transport Department is no help. It is a participant in silly distracting messages on the sides of busy roads. They won't condemn what the council is doing because they practice stupid signs on busy roads – offensive “PRENUP” messages on huge billboards supported by the LNP Government are a bad move.
