50 Charges ... No jail

This is a tragedy - It ignores the massive cost to the community.

To protect the young lady and the community - give her support and rehabilitation in custody.

An 18 year old with an existing criminal record, and who was convicted on almost 50 charges, has walked away from Ipswich Magistrates Court with a probation order. She tallied up the rap sheet in a crime spree over an eight-month period, beginning in February last year. The list of charges included 15 of fraud and nine of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.  She left court with an 18-month probation order and 100 hours of community service, to be completed within a year.
Guess how many hours of service she will 'actually provide to the community?
How will the Offender Levy contribution be used to help her victims?
The LNP Attorney General promised $1 million a month with his Offender Levy to help victims. Along with the Police Costs which are supposed to help victims I ask, how has the $6 million raised so far been used to help victims of crime?
One of the strongest messages the LNP received during the election campaign was that the community was sick and tired of Labor’s soft policies in relation to law and order. Queenslanders were tired of seeing offenders get off with a slap on the wrist after committing what many believe were horrendous crimes. We have listened to the people of Queensland and have set about making changes to make sure that we have some of the strongest policies in this great nation. In the last few months we have implemented legislation in that regard.    Police Minister Dempsey 1 August 2012
