After months of hoping for a cleanup of Pine Mountain Road near Whites Hill ... a few days of grading, laying turf and drain rehabilitation was welcome outside the City Council quarry site.
Boral have placed “for Sale” sale notices on their quarry property.
It has spectacular trees and views.
According to a Courier Mail promo, even features a lake in a pit!!
(However highly acidic water can make you sick.
Excess levels of metals, high PH and low nutrient levels are included in the lake at no extra charge.)

The Courier Mail had a promo on 7 September highlighting a large lake in the quarry pit.

Agents dig potential of old quarry

A FORMER Boral quarry in Brisbane's southern suburbs is for sale and has been earmarked as a residential development.
Surrounded by established housing, the 34.57ha site at 279 Pine Mountain Rd, Mt Gravatt, is being marketed in a tender campaign by Ray White Special Projects' Mark Creevey and Tony Williams. Mr Williams said Boral no longer required the property, which "features" a large lake in the pit. He said it was one of Brisbane's most significant redevelopment opportunities.
"This is an impressive site in an established and popular area approximately 8km east of the Brisbane CBD." Mr Creevey said the site has a preliminary approval which allows for about 20ha to be developed for residential purposes.
"Given the size and location of the property we anticipate there will be strong interest from major developers seeking to undertake a high quality residential development. The site is near major road networks, public transport, Westfield Carindale and Garden City shopping centres.''
Tenders are set to close on October 30.

My communication to Ray White Projects.

Good afternoon,
I note that Boral's Pine Mountain Road property is now up for sale.
I think it is a spectacular piece of bushland and certainly hope that as many trees as possible can be saved.
Would you consider an open day and tour for interested members of the community?
While curious to see the "lake" promoted in the courier mail I have always honoured warnings to respect the private property.
While a public tour may not bring out any benefactors to purchase the property and keep it as large bushland blocks it would be an act of goodwill to the local community.
I am surprised/happy that the council finally got around to continuing a clean up of Pine Mountain Road just prior to the sale signs going up. Excellent timing.
I will be objecting strongly to any development that does not make Pine Mountain Road much safer, between the childcare centre, Autistic Respite centre, Council quarry, truck thoroughfare and Wyncroft Street.
Pine Mountain Road area is increasingly dangerous because of the poor shoulders for pedestrians and bike riders. The guard rail is dangerous with very steep washouts and drop offs that are not immediately visible, particularly on dark, when people seem to walk on that road. I hope proposals for the land will remedy these problems.
The powdery soil council used to smooth the road edges is unacceptable.
As soon as it is wet it will become a mess, particularly with the volume of trucks using the road and parking on the edges. Concern about the water in the "lake" is a serious issue which Boral should have addressed. It appears it will be up to the purchaser to remedy the problem and pump it out through the sewage system.
I hope there can be a significant buffer zone around the property where the bushland and habitat is undisturbed and thoroughfares for wildlife. While other developments choose to mulch all the trees they destroy I hope that your development might act in a more friendly manner. Large trees could be logged, branches could be used as habitat and protection of the land, those branches that have to go could be mulched and used around the boundary of the property.
Please consider an open day and provide advice about the environmental conditions you are advising potential buyers they will have to respect until 2017.
