Happy Christmas Mansfield ... from Broadwater Park

An exciting Christmas present for Mansfield residents with the opening of a colourful playground at Broadwater Park. With several access points and excellent features, it remains one of the best recreation areas on the southside. The surprises will keep coming with Sam Riley’s Mt Gravatt East Pool scheduled for opening on 30 January.

Features of Broadwater Park include …

• Wildlife lurking on the roof of the new playground
  
• An excellent bike path adjacent to Bulimba Creek for testing out the new bikes
• Plenty of room for cricket and kicking a footy
• A road training course for young bike riders
• A Twirly Whirly Up and Downie thingo for the teenagers
• Wonderful tracks to explore along Bulimba Creek – see the historic stepping stones
• And boring stuff like BBQ’s and tables when you are conned into eating something
  

Solar powered slides – sorry guys we had to place them for maximum sunlight so you can slide faster.

A favourite remains, but no more bark and mulch through your clothes each time you fall off guys. A yummy bouncy surface now on the Twirly Whirly Up and Downie thingo.

Still one of my favouritest trees in Mansfield … now much safer with a few metres of leftover softfall to bounce off, not that I recommend anything other than admiring it’s wonderful colour from ground level.

Still on my wishlist for the area ... a safe pedestrian and cycle bridge linking Broadwater Park and Weedon Street soccer fields and park. Expecting pedestrians and cyclists to venture near the chaotic and dangerous Mt Gravatt Capalaba Road is unacceptable.
Gradual replacement and removal of the camphor laurel. Council spends hundreds of thousands improving a display of introduced jacaranda trees at New Farm Park so a display of colourful trees, native to Australia should be a budget priority for park lands at Mansfield.
